We are carrying out important upgrade works in the Porta Maggiore depot - built in the 19th century - aimed at housing the new tram fleet. This activity goes along with the works underway throughout the whole infrastructure as part of the renewal process of the entire tramway network.
The work plan will affect the tram service and some tram lines will be partially or totally replaced with buses.
From 6 October Tangenziale (Rome's Eastern Ring Road) Road Works - Tram Service Replaced by Buses
Starting 6 October, the second phase of renovation works on the Tangenziale will begin. During this period, all tram services will be replaced by buses following the same routes, except in the areas directly affected by the works.
The replacement bus services 2BUS, 3BUS, 5BUS, 8BUS, 14BUS and 19BUS ARE FREE OF CHARGE. Regular fares apply on the rest of the network and on night bus routes following tramway itineraries.
