From 15 September, commuters and tourists in Rome can plan their journeys and purchase public transport tickets directly through a single app, thanks to a new partnership between ATAC, Moovit, and Wetechnology.
The new feature, developed by Moovit using Wetechnology’s infrastructure, allows users to choose the best routes, buy tickets within the app, and validate them on all ATAC-operated lines.
This initiative is part of the national MaaS4Italy project, led by the Department for Digital Transformation with support from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Its goal is to implement the Mobility as a Feature (MaaF) model, making urban mobility simpler, more integrated, and accessible via multiple digital platforms.

"Our long-standing partnership with Moovit already allows the app to provide highly accurate arrival predictions for Rome’s public transport. Integrating ticket purchase takes this further: Moovit is an internationally recognized app with over a billion users worldwide, available in more than 40 languages. Tourists can now use the app in Rome just as they do in their home countries, without downloading new apps or facing language barriers. They can buy tickets, navigate the public transport system, and enjoy a smoother, more intuitive travel experience. This makes Rome even more welcoming and accessible for international visitors."
