Modernisation of the Tramway Network - Service Changes during the month of April: Works affecting lines 3 - 5 - 8 - 14 and 19

Due to redevelopment works in Viale del Parco del Celio and tree maintenance activities along Via Prenestina and Viale delle Gardenie, temporary changes will be introduced to the tram network service.


Here are all the details of the affected routes, timings, and replacement stops.

Tram Service Changes - April 2026

Regular tram service between Porta Maggiore and Valle Giulia.

Last tram departure from Valle Giulia towards Trastevere Station: 6:49 p.m.

Replacement buses will stop at the same stops as the tram service, with the following exceptions:
• At Piazza di Porta Maggiore, buses will terminate in the centre of the square
In both directions, instead of running through Viale del Parco del Celio, buses will operate via Via Celio Vibenna and Via di San Gregorio
Towards Trastevere, buses will use the side lane between Piazza di Porta Capena and Piazza Albania, following the same route as bus line 75
Towards Trastevere, buses will stop at the same tram stops between Trastevere Station and Porta Capena, and between Via Labicana and Via Eleniana

Evening replacement bus service across the entire route



• Last tram departure from Piazza Venezia to Casaletto: 7:30 p.m.
• Last tram departure from Casaletto to Piazza Venezia: 6:54 p.m.
• Instead of Piazza Venezia, buses will depart from Via degli Astalli
• At Casaletto, the terminus will be located on the side lane, as for bus line 088
Towards Casaletto, buses will stop at tram stops in Via Arenula
• Along Viale Trastevere and Circonvallazione Gianicolense, buses will use the side lane and stop at the same stops as night bus line n8
Towards Via degli Astalli, buses will use the side lane along Circonvallazione Gianicolense up to Piazza San Giovanni di Dio, following the same route as bus line 792, and then continue serving the regular tram stops

All day
Replacement buses will stop at the same tram stops, except for:

Porta Maggiore and Piazzale Labicano

  • Towards Piazza dei Gerani, buses will stop on the side lane of Piazza di Porta Maggiore, at the corner with Via Statilia (stop 71299), and at Via Prenestina / Piazzale Labicano
  • Towards Termini Station, buses will stop at Piazza di Porta Maggiore / Via di Porta Maggiore (stop 76628)
Please note:
In both directions, along Via Prenestina between Porta Maggiore and Via di Portonaccio, buses will run on the side lane and serve the same stops as night bus line n5.

Replacement bus service between Valle Giulia and Viale Giulio Cesare and between Porta Maggiore and Gerani

Regular tram service between Porta Maggiore and Valle Giulia.
All day

Valle Giulia - Viale Giulio Cesare section:

Regular replacement bus service as usual.

Porta Maggiore - Gerani section:

Same replacement bus service operating for Tram Line 5.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to check for further updates before travelling.
