ATAC warns customers about a fake SMS message linked to TAP&GO payments and urges passengers not to click on suspicious links.

ATAC has issued a warning to customers regarding a fraudulent SMS message currently circulating and targeting users of the TAP&GO payment service.

Several passengers have reported receiving a text message stating: “Warning! TAP&GO validation incomplete. Risk of fine. Confirm now: [fake link]”.

ATAC confirms that the message is entirely fake and part of a phishing attempt designed to deceive customers into accessing malicious websites and potentially sharing personal or payment information.

The company stresses that it never sends SMS messages related to TAP&GO validations or payments.

Customers are strongly advised not to click on the link contained in the message and to rely exclusively on ATAC’s official communication channels for information and customer support.

ATAC also announced that it will report the incident to the relevant authorities in order to help prevent further fraud attempts targeting passengers.
