Metro Line C - Colosseo/Fori Imperiali station: temporary service changes (7–20 September)
Works are starting at Colosseo/Fori Imperiali station on Metro Line C to extend the existing lifts, which currently connect the concourse level with the platforms, to the station’s intermediate museum level.
The upgrade will make the exhibition spaces fully accessible to people with disabilities or reduced mobility, families with pushchairs and visitors with specific access needs.
The museum level houses archaeological artefacts discovered during the construction of the station, displayed as part of an exhibition curated by the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum. Among the most significant finds is a private balneum (bathing complex) from one of the Roman houses uncovered in Piazza del Colosseo, dating from between the 2nd century BC and the fire of AD 64 under Emperor Nero.

Works and accessibility improvements
The works, carried out by the Metro C Consortium - led by Webuild and Vianini Lavori, together with Hitachi Rail, CMB and CCC – under the supervision of Roma Metropolitane and in coordination with ATAC, will include structural and systems works required to create the new lift landing.
A subsequent phase will involve work on the lifts themselves, while the station remains open. Details of the timing and arrangements for this phase are currently being defined and will be announced by ATAC once the necessary technical and authorisation procedures have been completed.
ATAC will provide passengers with updates on the temporary service changes and the progress of the works through its official communication channels, including the Real-time and Service status sections of the ATAC website
