MODERNISATION OF ROME’S METRO LINE A

Renovation of the railway track equipment in the historical Anagnina-Ottaviano section


Construction works are expected to last 18 months from 4 July 2022


The project involves track replacement for an overall length of 25 km.
The upgrade works will concern:

  • complete replacement of tracks, sleepers and switches
  • ballast reconditioning

Several components are still the original ones laid during the construction of the metro line in the late 1970s.

The old infrastructure will be entirely replaced with high-performance materials to improve efficiency and enhance safety.




To reduce inconvenience, works are carried out overnight.

For this reason, on some days of the week, an early closure of the ENTIRE Metro line A from Anagnina to Battistini, will be necessary.

from Sunday to Thursday last runs at 09:00 p.m.
on Fridays and Saturdays regular service until 01.30 a.m.



DURING THE METRO CLOSURE TIMES A REPLACEMENT BUS SERVICE
WILL OPERATE WITH UP TO 76 AVAILABLE BUSES AND 152 EXPECTED RUNS
