Travel passes purchased in 2025 - 2026 tax return

To claim the 19% IRPEF tax deduction in the 2026 tax return, you only need to provide your Metrebus Card and a copy of the receipt issued when the travel pass was purchased.

The maximum deductible amount is €250 per person for local, regional and interregional public transport. The 19% IRPEF tax deduction is available provided that the expense was paid using traceable payment methods, such as a debit or credit card. The relevant payment documentation must be retained.

Each taxpayer is responsible for checking that all the requirements for claiming the deduction are met when preparing their tax return, either personally or through an authorised tax adviser.

For further information, please consult the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) website.

If the receipt is lost or damaged, a duplicate can be obtained:

If the travel pass is still valid:

  • at one of the ATAC ticket offices (except Spagna);
  • at the new ticket machines located inside Rome Metro stations;
  • if the pass was purchased online, directly through MyAtac.

If the travel pass has expired:

  • through Atac Risponde. When submitting your request by email, you must include the card number, the cardholder's date of birth and the validity period (monthly or annual).

To prevent the information printed on the POS receipt from becoming difficult to read over time, we recommend making a copy of the receipt and keeping it with the original.
