How it works for 100-minute BIT tickets and ROMA 24/48/72 hour tickets

Follow the guided tour

  • To travel on surface services: activate your ticket by pressing the “Bus” button before boarding surface vehicles (bus, trams and trolleybuses).
  • To travel on the metro: you can use one of the following options:
    • QR Code: show the QR Code generated by the system to the turnstile’s optical reader.
    • NFC (Android): if you have an Android smartphone with NFC technology, hold your phone close to the NFC reader on the turnstile.
    QR CODE READERS AVAILABLE
    • traditional readers located on the top of the turnstile. Each station has two dedicated gates, usually the first on the right and the last on the left.
    • new All-in-One readers integrated into the new turnstiles, identifiable by the digital display and positioned on the front. Each metro station is equipped with one or more All-in-One turnstiles.
    TO AVOID READING ISSUES
    • do not place the smartphone flat on the reader;
    • keep the phone parallel to, or slightly tilted toward, the reader’s glass or screen;
    • increase screen brightness before showing the QR Code.
  • To travel on Metro C: open your ticket and press the “Bus” button. A QR Code will be generated—hold it close to the optical readers on the metro turnstiles to enter (for using the QR Code, see “To travel on the metro”).
  • To travel by train: activate your ticket by pressing the “Train” button and select your departure station.

How it works for monthly and annual passes

Follow the guided steps

Log in to the app, register for the service, and purchase your pass. The pass is issued with preset start and end dates, so it is purchased already active.

To travel on the metro: show the QR Code generated by the system to the turnstile’s optical reader. Alternatively, if you have an Android device with NFC technology, hold your smartphone close to the NFC reader on the turnstile. There are two types of QR Code readers: the traditional ones, located on the top of the turnstile (each station has two dedicated gates, usually the first on the right and the last on the left), and the new “All in One” readers, built into the new turnstiles, recognizable by the digital display and positioned on the front. Each metro station is equipped with one or more All in One turnstiles. To avoid reading issues, remember not to place your phone flat on the reader: keep it parallel or slightly tilted toward the reader’s glass. It is also recommended to increase screen brightness before showing the QR Code.

In case of ticket inspections

In case of ticket inspections, simply open the app and show the ticket inspector the QR code of the activated ticket on your smartphone. Each activated travel ticket corresponds to a QR Code, so if multiple tickets are activated simultaneously, each activated QR Code corresponds to a valid ticket.
