Frequently Asked Questions
The additional €0.50 charge covers the cost of the Chip on Paper rechargeable card, the medium on which the ticket purchased from an Atac ticket machine is loaded.
This charge applies only to the first purchase of one or two BIT tickets. The card is issued free of charge when purchasing any other type of ticket. No additional charge applies to subsequent top-ups. The €0.50 is therefore not an increase in the ticket price, but a fee for issuing the rechargeable card.
The card can be reused and topped up with the following tickets:
- 100-minute BIT tickets, also available in bundles of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 tickets;
- ROMA24, ROMA48 and ROMA72 tourist tickets, valid for 24, 48 and 72 hours respectively;
- Weekly Integrated Ticket (CIS).
You can top up the card at Atac ticket machines, Atac ticket offices and authorised retailers.
