Tickets and passes

• at Atac ticket offices (excluding Spagna) it is possible to request the Metrebus Card on which to charge the personal monthly pass. You’ll just have to fill in the form and give it to the ticket clerk together with a photocopy of a valid identification document, with the original in vision. The card is personalized with name, surname, date of birth and photo. In case of loss, theft or damage, you can request a duplicate at authorized Atac ticket offices upon payment of € 7.00 and after having completed the specific form, attaching a copy of the identity document In case of malfunction, the service is free.
  For minor applicants it is necessary to attach a copy of the document of a parent/guardian and, in case of first issue, deliver a paper photograph of the minor.

Where to charge it

The annual Roma electronic card can be charged:

• at Atac ticket offices;
• online on the Atac website;
• at authorized shops (newsagents, tobacconists and affiliated bars);
• at the new ticket vending machines.

Within the territory of Rome:

• on buses, trams and trolleybuses;
• on Cotral buses (urban route);
• on Metro lines;
• on Regional Trains (urban route): Trenitalia (2nd class only), Roma-Lido, Termini -Centocelle and Roma-Viterbo;
• on bus lines 520 and 720 connecting Rome to Ciampino Airport.

Not valid for:

• Cotral special connection Roma Tiburtina/Termini-Fiumicino Airport;
• Trenitalia "no stop" connection Roma Termini-Fiumicino Airport.

• Check the correctness of the data relating to the subscription shown on the receipt at the time of issue. The payment receipt can be used for the replacement of the card at a ticket office;
• make sure you validate your ticket at the beginning of your journey and when entering a Metro station.

• You find validators on buses, trams, trolleybuses, Regional rail trains Termini-Centocelle, Roma-Viterbo and in stations at the turnstiles for access to the Metro lines, the Roma-Lido and Trenitalia regional railways.
• In case of validator malfunction:
  • on public transport vehicles (buses, trams, trolleybuses, Metro lines and Regional railways as well as on Cotral buses, you can report the malfunction to the driver or to the station staff;
  • if you are travelling on Trenitalia trains, please go to a ticket office or to the conductor.
• The ticket must be kept throughout the journey and displayed in case of a ticket inspection, accompanied by an identity document.
• Passengers found travelling without a valid ticket or with an irregular ticket, will be issued with a penalty fare from 100 up to 500 euros, besides the payment of the ticket price, of the procedural costs and postage charges, if applicable. The penalty is reduced to 50 euros if paid within 5 days after notification.
• A penalty fare is raised when:
  • although having a ticket, you did not validate it correctly;
  • you are found with a ticket or travel pass that is visibly counterfeit;
  • you are using your ticket beyond its validity period;
  • you are using your ordinary ticket or travel pass on special connections, that  require a specific ticket;
  • you are using  a ticket or travel pass with a lower price or distance coverage than needed;
  • you display a personal pass without having filled in your data or without an ID card.
